13 Things All Great Men Do: How to Live a Life Beyond the Ordinary
Everyone wants to be great, but not everyone knows what it takes to do so. We all want the admiration of our peers and we all want to leave a legacy that will live on long after we’ve gone. The problem is that it’s difficult to know where and how to start. It’s even more difficult when you have no one around you who has been successful in achieving greatness themselves.
In this article I am going to share with you 13 things all great men do — some of them are universal, others are specific for certain professions or lifestyles — as well as provide examples from my own life of how these habits helped me go from being just another guy working an office job into someone people call a thought leader and an authority in the personal development space.
#1 Ignoring The Haters
We all have them, those people who just love to hate. They seem to find joy in popping up in our social media feeds or commenting on our blog posts with negative and unhelpful comments. But what can we do about it? According to new research, ignoring the haters may be the best strategy. The study found that when people ignored negative feedback, their performance actually improved. So next time you’re feeling down after receiving some negative feedback, remember that you’re not alone, and ignore the haters! They’re only trying to bring you down anyway.
#2 Surrounding Yourself With Other Successful People
Successful people are often attracted to other successful people. This is because they know that these individuals can help them grow and achieve their goals. By surrounding yourself with others who have achieved success, you can learn from them and better yourself. Not only will you be able to gain insight from these people, but you will also be inspired by them. So, if you want to reach your goals, it’s important to associate yourself with those who have already accomplished what you want to achieve.
#3 Swallowing Your Pride
In order to succeed in life, it’s often necessary to swallow your pride and put your ego aside. It can be difficult to admit that you made a mistake or need help, but it’s essential to do so if you want to achieve your goals. When you’re able to humble yourself, you’ll find that people are more willing to help you out and that doors will start opening for you. So don’t be afraid to let go of your pride — it will only hold you back. Instead, focus on what’s important and strive to reach your goals. You can do it!
#4 Reinventing Yourself
Most people go through different stages in life, and for the most part, we can be predicted based on our early years. But what happens when you feel like you’ve reached a dead end? Do you give up and conform to society’s expectations of who you should be, or do you find the courage to reinvent yourself? For anyone feeling lost in life, don’t give up! The world is full of possibilities, and there is no right or wrong way to live your life. You can be whoever you want to be, as long as you’re true to yourself. So take a chance, and jump into the unknown — it just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to you.
#5 Leveraging What Makes You Unique
We all have different strengths and weaknesses. No one can do everything, and that’s okay! In fact, it’s actually a good thing. We should embrace our individual quirks and use them to our advantage. After all, what makes you unique is also what makes you special. So don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd. Let your individuality shine through! You never know, it just might be the thing that sets you apart and helps you succeed.
#6 Being So Good You Can’t Be Ignored
There is a lot of talk about being “good enough.” People seem to think if they are just good enough, they will be successful. But what if you are so good you can’t be ignored? What if your excellence is what sets you apart? Instead of trying to be good enough, aim to be excellent and let success come naturally. You’ll find that being exceptional makes all the difference.
#7 Always Experimenting
There’s no doubt that experimentation is a key part of any successful scientific process, but it’s also important in other areas of life. By always pushing the boundaries and trying new things, we can open ourselves up to new opportunities and experiences. This is as true for personal growth as it is for scientific advancement. So don’t be afraid to experiment — you may be surprised at what you discover!
#8 Leading By Example
As a leader, it is important to set the example for your team. You need to be someone that your team can look up to and trust. Being a leader doesn’t mean bossing people around or being demanding. A good leader leads by example. This means working hard, being honest and fair, and being supportive of their team. When you lead by example, your team will be more motivated and productive. They will also feel like they are part of a team that is working together towards a common goal. setting the example for your team is one of the most important things you can do as a leader. By doing so, you will help them reach their goals while helping build a strong, cohesive team.
#9 Continuously Learning
Continuously learning is important to anyone and everyone. There are so many things to learn in life, and the more you learn, the better off you are. Whether you’re a student or not, there’s always something new to learn. For students, learning is essential for success in school and beyond. But even those who aren’t students can benefit from learning. Lifelong learners are typically more successful and have a broader worldview. So if you’re looking to improve your life, start by committing to continuous learning. There’s no better way to achieve your goals and expand your horizons!
#10 Remembering Loss & Being Grateful For Today
This time of year is always bittersweet for me. On one hand, I am grateful for all the amazing things that have happened in my life this year. But on the other hand, it’s hard to not think about all the loved ones who are no longer with us. As I reflect on the past year, I can’t help but remember all of the losses I have experienced. It’s times like these when I find myself being especially grateful for today. Because even though yesterday was difficult, today is a new day and there is always something to be grateful for. Even if it’s just a chance to breathe in and out and keep going.
#11 Giving Up Alcohol
I used to be a big drinker. I loved going out for drinks with my friends, and I would always have at least one cocktail or beer. But over time, I started to realize that alcohol was really damaging my health and my life. So I decided to give it up completely. And let me tell you, it was not easy! But it was definitely worth it in the end.
#12 Striving To Be A Better Listener
I have always been a good listener. I think it’s one of the most important aspects of being a great friend. You need to be able to listen and understand what the other person is saying in order to offer them your support. However, I recently realized that I could be doing even better. I was listening with my head, not my heart. And as a result, I wasn’t really hearing what the other person was saying.
I decided to change that and start striving to be a better listener. And it’s made all the difference in my relationships. Now when someone talks to me, I make an effort to truly listen and understand them. And they appreciate that so much! Being a better listener has helped me form deeper friendships and better relationships with everyone around me.
#13 Scheduling Everything
It’s no secret that many of us are overwhelmed with the amount of stuff we have to do. Between work, family, and other obligations, it seems like there’s never enough time in the day. But what if there were a way to simplify our lives and free up some extra time? Believe it or not, scheduling everything is the answer! By creating a schedule and sticking to it, we can make sure that everything gets done on time without having to stress out about it. So give it a try and see just how much easier life can be!
